I remember when I was a little girl
The wrinkle between my eyebrows curled
When I slipped and said a bad word
It was the very first time I’d heard
About the Dragon Fly’s terrible curse
When you’re young there’s nothing worse
“Watch your mouth the Dragon Fly will loom,
And zip your lips up; gloom and doom!”
My granny told me when I was young
Thought she was just spoiling my fun.
Then one day out on the lake
I was fishing with my friend Jake
He hooked his bobber up in a tree
And yelled at it explicitly
I told him of the Dragon Fly
But he said it was all a lie
Suddenly out of the sky it came
And zipped his lips, forever maimed
