Ode to The Blind Dog

At the kennel we shopped for a kitten;
Travelling across the damn, through the fog,
A canine in our lives was not fitting;
We came home that day with a little dog.

Runt of the litter and born without eyes,
A sightless dog won’t produce any coins.
Saved him from the cruel coldblooded demise;
We felt sorry for him down in our loins.

Brought puppy home to our humble abode
He ran into this and ran into that,
The journey had started down a long road;
What he could use was a doggy hard hat.

Makes no difference that this dog is blind
Finding his way with his keen sense of smell
Toss a ball up in the air; it he’ll find,
When matters aren’t right, he’s the first to tell
Handicap doggy makes us more aware
Of how much we love our Little Big Bear.
