Crackerberries Kitchen

Breakfast and then some is served right up hot
Join me in cooking; we'll chat and whatnot.

Sausage gravy on top of a biscuit,
Cooked smooth without lumps, I’m sure to whisk it.

A side of grits with shredded cheddar cheese;
two poached eggs on toast will surly please.

Fresh squeezed orange juice and a plate full of fruit;
piping hot coffee fills the mug up, to boot.

Come into my kitchen and pull up a chair,
No clothes do I wear so please try not to stare.

I’ll cook you a meal that sure to satisfy,
when lunch rolls around the chicken I’ll fry.

Oven hot cornbread and fresh collard greens,
Black-eyed peas and your choice of lima beans

Sweet tea and lemonade in a tall glass
Or Vodka spritzer garnished with sassafras.

Come into my kitchen and sit right down,
I’ll fix up some lunch I won’t make you frown.

Maybe you’d prefer something less filling,
Look, in the fridge, “Oh my!” its pie, chilling.

A lemon meringue or maybe key lime;
and strawberry shortcake if you have time.

A hot cup of tea with sugar cookies
Whatever you want, all kinds of goodies.

It doesn’t matter in my kitchen you see,
everyone is welcome to come visit me.

Baptizing Cows

We went down to the river to pray
Singing about that good old day

All the cows were lined up knee deep
Giving their souls to Jesus to keep

The cornfields spread across the land
Birds chirped gospel as the background band

The sky was as deep as blue could be
This ceremony was quite a sight to see

Cows of every color, size, and shape
Experiencing heaven without the red tape

We stood and we watched as each cow was dunked
Off a lily pad, Mister Frog jumped: Ker-plunk

Once each cow had their sin washed away
They grazed in the field for the rest of the day

God’s green earth is for all kinds of creatures
Just ask any one of God’s soul saving preachers.

Grimalkin

Primary Days

My teacher was a grimalkin
Used a yard stick for discipline
When I went up to the blackboard
I was scared my manner torrid

Had no use for my opinion
My teacher was a grimalkin
With thick gray hair and beady eyes
She was a monster in disguise

After school she kept pupils late
For din-din, I was sure she ate
My teacher was a grimalkin
“Detention!” she’d yell with a grin

Those days are gone and in the past
My nightmares put to rest at last
I’m the one that’s now instructing
My students call me a grimalkin.

Pondering Ecclesiastes

We are born into this world,
to grow and live and die.

We plant a garden of seeds to raise up,
and once the harvest is ready we pick it.
We kill a relationship with one another, or animals for food
while trying to heal the relationship we survive off the kill.

Our words can easily breakdown a soul
or in turn build up an esteem.
Sometimes through life we weep,
while other moments we share a laugh.
At times we lose loved ones and mourn, but
find the opportunity to celebrate them in dance.

As we grow older we cast away stones,
with wisdom we gather stones of knowledge.
We embrace the lessons learned and
refrain from embracing past mistakes.

Sometimes we gain material things,
it is not long before we lose them.
Knowledge and wisdom is something we keep,
we throw away things of the past, heartache and pain.

We go through a time to tear down walls and
sow the things that have been ripped apart.
We learn to know when silence is golden
there’s also a time when we stand up and speak.

Life will bring us many to love,
it will also show us moments of hate.
Our world is not perfect, there will be war,
only Jesus can bring us a peace in our hearts.

The Gnome Shroom

Brilliant orange top
in shady dark brown
wasn’t expecting
to see pretty
there on the ground.

Animation in the wilderness
grows a psychedelic
mushroom with finesse.

The Gnome is the King
and if you give him a ring,
he’ll send you a fairy
that is magically inclined.

She is made to spread dust
on people who lust
and she changes the minds
about fat behinds.

Everything is perfect
in Gnomeville.
You can feel big or small
without taking a pill.

Watch out for the toads
and also the frogs,
they are very jealous
and they hide out in logs.

The psychedelic cover
on the very top
guides’ fairies home
when they need to stop.
Refresh and revitalize
their magic powers
so they can go back out
into the world for hours.

Cartoonish this ‘shroom
appeared in front of me,
until I went inside
I couldn’t really see.
All of the funkiness
going on in there,
it was hard to refrain myself
from my awkward stare.

The colors were vibrant
and so very bright;
I didn’t want to leave
this beautiful sight.

The Gnome King offered me
a choice if I wanted to stay,
but I’d never be able
to return back
into the world my way.

Become a fairy
with Tinkerbelle toes,
sprinkling dust
and ideas I shall impose.
So now I live
sharing my magic,
going back
to the real world
would be tragic.

Cookies

I think I want to bake some cookies today and I just can't dedide what kind to make.

A cookie is my favorite treat
Baked up hot they’re so good to eat
Chocolate chip and plain sugar
Drop molasses, peanut butter
Egg Nog rum bites at Christmastime
Fig bars are a preference of mine
Gum drop cookies, all the kids love
Honey nut crunch and turtle dove
If you want to try something new
Just keep reading I’ll share a few
Kahula, just a little shot
Laced with butterscotch, hits the spot
Marshmallow fudge, I could just drool
Nut macaroons are way too cool
Oatmeal raisin, oatmeal pecan
Put them cookies right in my hand
Quick let me get a glass of milk
Raspberry squares go down like silk
Save up the very best for last
Tea cakes with cream disappear fast
Understand there are numerous
Various names are humorous
What’s your favorite cookie snack?
Xylose prevents a heart attack
Yummy cookies in my tummy
Zippy loopy I’m no dummy

The Cake Baked For Jake

I had fun with this one... I was thinking about the house that Jack built when I wrote it.

This is the cake that was baked for Jake.

This is the hour that it took to make the cake that was baked for Jake.

This is the flour that was used in the hour that it took to make the cake that was baked for Jake.

This is the egg that wet the flour that was used in the hour that it took to make the cake that was baked for Jake.

This is the oil that soiled the egg that wet the flour that was used in the hour that it took to make the cake that was baked for Jake.

This is the bowl that held the oil that soiled the egg that wet the flour that was used in the hour that it took to make the cake that was baked for Jake.

This is the dog that licked the bowl that held the oil that soiled the egg that wet the flour that was used in the hour that it took to make the cake that was baked for Jake.

This is the cat that tricked the dog that licked the bowl that held the oil that soiled the egg that wet the flour that was used in the hour that it took to make the cake that was baked for Jake.

This is the rat that distracted the cat that tricked the dog that licked the bowl that held the oil that soiled the egg that wet the flour that was used in the hour that it took to make the cake that was baked for Jake.

This is the trap that caught the rat that distracted the cat that tricked the dog that licked the bowl that held the oil that soiled the egg that wet the flour that was used in the hour that it took to make the cake that was baked for Jake.

This is the lady who yelled “I declare there’s a rat in there!” who found the trap that caught the rat that distracted the cat that tricked the dog that licked the bowl that held the oil that soiled the egg that wet the flour that was used in the hour that it took to make the cake that was baked for Jake.

This is the chair that held lady who yelled “I declare there’s a rat in there!” who found the trap that caught the rat that distracted the cat that tricked the dog that licked the bowl that held the oil that soiled the egg that wet the flour that was used in the hour that it took to make the cake that was baked for Jake.
