The Twelve

The twelve apostles whom Jesus chose
A lowly bunch through His teachings rose

Amongst them a tax collector and two fishermen
Dropping all of their goals to follow One Man

Sent out to preach the Word of God
Hung out with Jesus, twelve peas in a pod

They cast out demons and healed the weak
Said it was Jesus the crowds should seek

These twelve were to be His closest of friends
Judas Iscariot has a strategy which offends

Silver won over in the garden of hyssop
With a kiss on the cheek He gave Jesus up

Arrested our King and put on a cross
Friends went from twelve to eleven - no loss

Judas put silver above our Lord
Then hung from a tree, feelings deplored

That is the story of the twelve who were inspired
One thought he was better, and ended up fired.

So don’t ever get too big for your britches
Be careful what you do with all of your riches.

Twelve is a number important you see
One plus two equals the Trinity.
