Pool Party

My name is Chow Maine
I love to party

My mood is piqued
When supper’s tardy

Huff huff huff I’m in a puff

Gracefully, snobbishly
Strutting my stuff

Molest my tail
Hurls me into a huff

Huff huff huff I’m in a puff

Fresh cut cat nip vine
Releases bad mood

Understand I’m a cat
Not being rude

Huff huff huff I’m in a puff

I don’t comprehend
a dog and his drool

I’m just a cat
Scrutinizing the pool

It's a Dog's Life

A dogs’ life would be good for me;
I wouldn’t worry about popularity.

I’d lay on the porch and sleep all day,
then run all around acting silly, curious and gay.

I wouldn’t fret ‘bout putting my foot in my maw,
if I did who would care, I’d be chewing my paw.

I could just roll around carelessly playing in the grass;
staying out of trouble away from the morass.

No phone calls, no emails, no text messages,
no worrying about what the next secret passage is.

I wouldn’t have to worry if my arm pits stank,
nor if my feet smelled yucky or a little bit rank.

No one would be upset if I said something wrong,
or if indeed I was wearing too short a sarong.

My friends would just like me there’d be no façade;
in fact I’d be the one to get them guffawed.

No one would know that I was wicked smart,
the facts that I knew I would never impart.

Yup, to me a dogs’ life surely sounds unproblematic,
wouldn’t have to worry about recognition static.

All of this writing has now made me tired;
I better get back to my job before I get fired.

Mid-life Crisis

She looks in the mirror every day
At the life she’s stole to make her way

She fills her life up with things
Precious gems in golden rings

Surrounds herself with lots of friends
Expands on all the global trends

One car to drive just won’t do
Her choice of three, not just two

When one mentions of her façade
She goes into a long tirade

Arrogance won't admit to wrong
It dances to it's own sad song

She takes what she wants from her friends,
Lies, cheats, deceives without amends.

Dining out is her past time
Frequently, not on her dime

A flight to Paris or to Rome
She goes to get a way from home.

College courses earns her degrees
Filling her life with luxuries

Running from life she can’t face
She's just caught up in the rat race

Life crammed full of so much stuff
It will never be quite enough.

She’ll strive always to be what she’s not
‘Till she takes the free gift Christ has bought.

The Fire Drake

A mystical creature from out of the blue
Feared by all because fire, he threw

Deliverer of havoc this arrogant snake
Existing in clouds, caverns or lake

Kidnapper of maidens, fairest in the land
Defeating knights tempting to rescue their hand

Demander of sacrifice for use of the path
Eluding will end fulfilling dragons’ wrath

Guardian of treasure this three headed demon
Some pay top dollar for one teaspoon of semen

Magnificent beast with outstretched wings
Few understand the sad songs he sings

A fabulous monster, the serpent of old
And many a story of him have been told

Inspiration

(Stimulating my mind)
Inquiring minds want to know
Narcissism feeds my foe
Scintillating; my claim to fame
Preposterous poetry; I try to tame
Imperfection keeps me humble
Rhetoric writing makes me stumble
Accolades will stroke my ego
Tartamingus, no comprende, Amigo?
Intimidated and afraid to fail
Objurgating myself; then I wail
Needful writing; I must assail.
